About Us

R. Rae Powell

Principal

Consulting to closing, founder and president Rae Powell can help bring your business concept to reality. From finding land or commercial properties, to understanding laws, finances, and resource management, he can bring a deal to life. A skilled broker with 30 years of marketing and business management experience, Rae can anticipate and circumvent potential barriers to your success.
A native Texan and agricultural economics graduate of Texas A&M University, Rae began his career with a small but successful family-run water well company. Always an admirer of the West, however, he took advantage of an opportunity to relocate and utilize his cattle background and interests. Not long after moving into sales, he earned lead marketing roles and corporate management positions for notable animal health companies.
Inevitably wanting to operate his own company, he relied upon his earlier experiences, purchased a water well company, and began specializing in ranch wells. Rae expanded into water resource management in the oil and gas industry, earning the prestigious Aggie 100, awarded by the Mays School of Business, in both 2016 and 2018. His keen knowledge of water resources led to consulting with ranch and landowners, eventually evolving into assisting with land transactions. Combining this need with his business management skills and marketing chops, Rae established Powell Land Resources in 2019.

I’ve spent the best part of 30 years in agriculture, oil and gas, and ground water in everything from operations to sales and marketing management. I’m focused on working with both current and aspiring landowners to maximize their investments and land resources through marketing, management and buyer consultation.

While I work with landowners and buyers across most of the western half of Texas, my favorite area is the Texas Hill Country. The popularity and growth driven by both tourism and new opportunities in boutique agriculture have made it a fun place to work.

I still dream of the old days when ranch brokers worked with large producers and investors engaged in large farm and ranching operations. That’s obviously changed, but today I really enjoy helping land and agriculture newcomers get the most out of their investment.
